Fabric Shopping 6 - Unselfish Shopping, kind of

Hello!

Happy Tuesday to you!

So as I am selling a lot of patterns on eBay as mentioned yesterday I was having a look through some of my favourite sites on there and decided to buy some fabric to make my Mum some cushions for her bedroom.
She is planning to redecorate next month in greys/silvers so thought I could make some cushions for Mothers Day!

Simple but thoughtful! And I NEVER get to make anything for my Mum so I hope she likes them.

It is oh so easy to keep plopping things into your basket on eBay at one point I had 8 half metres of grey/silver fabric in my basket! My mum does not need 8 cushions on her bed!

So I was good and ordered this FQ bundle for £11.99 to make 3 cushions with different fabric on each side. If I am feeling clever I may try some piping the edges.

I also bought a batch of 10 16inch zips for a bargain £3.99.

And this is where I should have stopped...BUT this was soooo cheap!

At £2.75 for a very pretty fabric I couldn't resist! I do love me some sequins! I bought 3m - oooops!

I have never actually ordered from Regency Rags but only heard good things so we shall see!

I will probably show you final pictures of the cushions, as boring as the are!

Fabric Shopping 5

Hello Everyone,

So, my stash diet hasn't been going great, with limited actual sewing of garments my stash isn't going down!
This is just a short catch up of what I have bought recently.

First Up

On my recent holiday in Thailand I wanted to REALLY do some fabric shopping but unfortunately my holiday spends were pretty limited (story of my life at the moment!) and I would rather spend my money on doing things - but on my last day I saw this. Now, I think you can get this cotton in the UK really easily but its elephants in Thailand so it had to be bought. I bought 2 metres of it and I am sure it was about £2 a metre. Totally worth it!

A couple of Saturdays ago I went on a meet up with some lovely sewing ladies through The Foldline. If you aren't acquainted with this site I would highly recommend. A social network for sewing! WIN!
So, there was a thread for a London meet up on Goldhawk Road and I went along.

The lovely Barbara over at The London Dessmakers Club has posted a more detailed plot of the day.

I was VERY sensible - I didn't want to be but I was!

A gorgeous denim, it is really wide so only bought a metre for £6.99.

I am sure I was told this was black wool crepe. I could be wrong but it is bottom weight and I bought 1m for £8.

For both these patterns I am thinking Seamwork Osaka and it will become my wearable skirt as Challenge 2 of My 2016 Sewing Challenges

It has been non-existant on the sewing front I am afraid, I am hoping I manage to get some done this weekend. I need some relaxing time, life just gets in the way!

Hopefully will have something to share soon!

A Brilliant Haberdashery Find

Happy Monday Everyone,

I hope you are well!

This is just a quick one today to tell you about an amazing find.

I was running a cross stitch social through a social network I am with (Thinking Bob) and I needed to buy supplies.

I found this website: http://www.fabianstrimmings.co.uk/ but as people could sign up at any point before Sunday it wasn't feasible for my to online order.

So I went to Shadwell to go visit on Sunday morning!

Guys, if you want CHEAP haberdashery and trimmings (in bulkier quantities than by the metre etc) then I would go here!

Trimmings and Elastics

Buttons Galore

Need a zip?
It took a LOT of willpower not to go absolutely mental in here and buy EVERYTHING! Total treasure trove of brilliance!

Machine needles seemed ridiculously cheap too - less than £5 for 50 needles?! I just couldn't remember what sizes I needed! :(

I will go again, with a plan of things needed...and I would highly recommend it, the staff/owners were lovely! And no minimum spend when go there direct!

Over and out

P.S. No affiliations here I just wanted to share a bargain find!
